Crown of Thorns

This piece was born from a place of raw emotion; a moment of deep anger and grief. Painted in a storm of movement and color, it began without form or intention, only the need to release what words could not contain. At the time, I was wrestling with anguish and questioning faith after my son received a devastating diagnosis.
When I later returned to the painting, I saw something I hadn’t intended — the unmistakable shape of a crown of thorns. It stopped me. In that instant, what had begun as an expression of rage transformed into a reminder of compassion, suffering, and shared pain. Crown of Thorns became, for me, a symbol of that shared suffering — and of the unexpected ways grace can emerge from our deepest wounds.
